Header Design

In this week, we are responsible for designing a good header for our websites.
First of all, I should indicate that I'm not much familiar with photoshop, please go easy on me :)
This is what I though first:

In this one (above), W and D characters' alignment seems problematic to me, and also some nice color would be better.
So, I made this:

Then:

I tried the same thing without the guide line in the middle, but didn't like it.
